We are not offering Bull elk hunts at this time.

Hunting the Wyoming elk is truly one of the top hunts of a lifetime.  Our elk hunts take place at our mountain ranch at the base of Laramie Peak.  This famous peak not only offers some of the best elk hunting in Wyoming, but also guided hundreds of thousands of pioneers on the Oregon Trail.

Cow Elk Hunt Updates and Changes

Dates 1 Week per year

October 14-20

Beginning in 2026, our cow elk hunts will be changing from a semi-guided hunt to a DIY on your own hunt. This hunt will become a trespass fee hunt with lodging included.

We feel that changing to this type of hunt is a better fit for what we have to offer at this time. During October we become very busy with our cattle ranch business, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide a semi-guided experience.

  1. The cost for this hunt will decreasing to $1,300.00 per person. This price includes a trespass and lodging fee. This covers the use of J.P. Werner and Sons, Inc. property along with lodging in the mountain cabin during your hunt.
  2. In order to book this hunt, there must be a minimum of 2 hunters in the group with a maximum of 5.  Groups with 3-5 hunters will receive a discounted price of $1,100.00 per hunter. (Max of 5 people allowed in the cabin.)
  3. Any non-hunters will pay a pre-negotiated price for their stay.
  4. The price will include
    1. The use of the cabin for your hunt

i.Furnished with towels, linens, toiletries, trash bags, paper towels, dish soap, and basic spices and kitchen supplies.

  1. J.J will meet the group in Douglas in early afternoon of October 14th to guide you to the cabin, collect liability waivers and payments, go over the cabin basics with a quick tour of the property and answer any questions you may have.
  2. Hunting will be on your for your five day hunt. GPS or Onx will be needed to confirm you location at all times. It will be your responsibility to know your location and to remain on J.P. Werner and Sons, Inc. property or that of State and forest service lands.  ANY TRESPASSING ISSUES WILL TERMINATE THE HUNT AND YOU WILL BE ASKED TO VACATE THE PREMISES.
  3. It will be the responsibility of the hunter and his group to pack out and remove any elk that are harvested during this hunt.
  4. At the end of your hunt, you will need to follow the checkout procedures provided to you upon arrival. These steps will ensure that you leave the cabin as you and your group found it and any trash that accumulated during your stay is taken down the mountain.
